Hoppy Halloween!
Wow! Another Halloween come and gone. This year, ShadowCatt-X and I went to her works Halloween party. There was much goings on and the music was VERY loud!

ShadowCatt-X dressed up as an Asian kitty. This is a sneak peek at the costume she'll be wearing to Further Confusion in 2008! She borrowed my white Zentai suit and used black shoe polish to put the spots on (and, let me tell you, the black shoe polish marks through the zentai. I know because I was wearing it at the time! *giggle*)

Now me, I was still fighting off the cold (or whatever) that I picked up in Reno. That meant I couldn't wear my facial appliance (I wasn't about to blow my nose while wearing a bunny mask.) Instead I picked up an inexpensive wizard costume to wear.

Sadly, last night was rough. I only got about 4 hours of sleep so I'm feeling sort of punch drunk. I still have a bad cough from the cold. Today on my way home I'll pick up some of that 12 hour cough suppressent, take it, then go to bed.

Boojum the brown bunny

Sounds like you had fun on your Halloween! Sorry to hear the lingering cold effects - hope you get shed of them soon.

The costumes look good! Even a "cheap wizard" one. Was a lot better than what I tossed together at the last moment.

I just used a bit of stage makeup to darken circles around my eyes, add some age lines and 'weather' and 'dirty up' my face a bit, and then colored my beard in. Then added a pirate's scarf head covering, some dark shirt and pants, and that was pretty much it.

Course, dimming all the lights by using red bulbs, and adding a couple flashing strobes to the entry and upstairs windows highlighted the effect of the makeup and dark clothing, so it worked out okay. Was good enough for startling the kids at the door anyway *grins* and that was all I was going for.

We usually go in for a bit more spectacular effects, but the roomie decided it was more fun to stay drunk in bed all week, so I almost didn't do anything for the holiday. Then I figured I shouldn't let him mess with my fun, and put the decorations out and the costume on and had a good time anyway.

Here's hoping that cough med kicks the cough and sniffles away!

I liked your costumes. The asian kitty is very nice. She might want to consider more of a 'willow-leaf' upturn to the corners of her eye make-up. In the picture she looks to me like an unhappy kitty. I don't know if that's the effect she was going for. Also, the hair-style seems 'western' to me. I'd think a far-eastern hairstyle would have some kind of gather or comb, at the least, even if one didn't go with a full formal, ornate costruction. But I don't know how easy or difficult it would be to do that with a wig.

Nothing wrong with your 'basic' wizarding costume. At least, IMHO.

(I suppose that's one of the injustices of costuming, the more elaborate the costume, the more niggling details there are to criticize. People who plunge fully into the costuming thing don't always get the recognition they deserve. The simple stuff works 'well enough' for most people, and only connessoirs -- which I am not -- can really tell the difference.)
